Memorial Day weekend is over, and the summer is (unofficially) here. Now retailers just need to navigate a Q2 rife with uncertainty around tariffs, tax bills, geopolitical instability, and any number of other obstacles and challenges. In the meantime, here are some retail happenings to keep you busy:

In conferences: SubSummit is coming to Dallas this week from Wednesday through Friday. The industry gathering brings together 2,000-plus professionals focused on subscription, membership, and recurring revenue, from firms ranging from direct-to-consumer (DTC) startups to streaming giants. Retailers such as Albertsons, GNC, and Alibaba are sending speakers.

In awards: The deadline for the 2025 Ad Age Breakout Brands awards is this Wednesday. The contest aims to celebrate emerging brands and the professionals behind their success. The award categories include Breakout Brand Leaders, B2B Campaign of the Year, Best Design/Branding of the Year, and Best ROI, among others.

In scholarships: The deadline for the NRF Next Generation Scholarship is this Wednesday. The program is aimed at developing the skills of students looking to launch a career in retail, distributing $800,000 in funds since its launch. Last year’s top recipient got a $25,000 scholarship, and four finalists were awarded $10,000 scholarships.

In earnings: Some major retailers are reporting quarterly results this week, rounding out the Q1 earnings season. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Abercrombie & Fitch, and e.l.f. Beauty are reporting on Wednesday. Then Costco, Burlington Stores, Gap, and Ulta Beauty are up next on Thursday. That lineup runs the gamut from big box to DTC, and if the last few weeks are any gauge, we can expect more insights on how companies are handling and preparing for tariffs.

In webinars: DetailPage.com, a platform for tracking product sales on retail websites such as Amazon and Walmart, is hosting a webinar on Wednesday digging into Amazon’s April data, as it relates to tariffs and pricing.
