Beyoncé isn’t the only one hitting the ground running with her haircare brand. It’s also the case for a handful of retail startups whose 2024 is off to a stellar start—and have us, sorry, saying their name.

Girl dinner: Good Girl Snacks likes to think of itself as a far cry from the average dill pickle you’ll find on the shelf of your local grocery store. The brand, which launched this month, is led by Leah Marcus and Yasman Bakhitar who are seeking to put their own Gen Z-esque twist on pickles, with unique flavors and clean ingredients, according to CPG newsletter Snaxshot.

  • The company is starting off with two kinds of jarred pickles—original dill and honey harissa—and they’re branded as “Hot Girl Pickles.”
  • If you haven’t noticed, pickles are having a major resurgence among Zoomers, as pickle-related challenges on TikTok rack up billions of views.

“The name of the product, ‘Hot Girl Pickles,’ is the most emphasized part of the label; Gen Z appropriated the ‘hot girls eat pickles’ sentence, which taps into this microtrend of the ‘hot girl mentality’ and the popularity surrounding ‘girl dinners,’ etc. on social media,” Marcus told Dieline.

Don’t forget to take your vitamins: Perelel Health is a Los Angeles-based pre- and postnatal supplement company that just closed on a $6 million series A funding round. Its founders and co-CEOs, Alex Taylor and Victoria Thain Gioia, founded the company in 2020, and it has doubled its year over year growth since then and is nearly profitable, according to Glossy.

  • Perelel Health plans to use the cash to grow its employee base and fund studies on its products.
  • Glossy also notes that the company hopes to introduce new products and expand the business through its DTC subscription model. But Perelel’s products can also be found IRL, including at 250 doctors offices, Revolve, and Erewhon.

Go deeper: Octup is an AI-driven ecommerce platform that just closed on $4 million in pre-seed funding. Founded in 2022, Octup’s platform leverages AI and machine learning to help retailers uncover previously inaccessible data, hidden fees, double charges and errors. The technology finds that information and translates it into potential future profit insights across the value chain.

  • Founder and CEO Alon Partuk said Octup is valuable for finding insights outside of the “standard metrics” in order to illuminate other opportunities down the road.
