Sally Beauty is teaming up with DoorDash for a pop-up event in New York City this week from Thursday to Saturday. The event highlights the brands’ partnership to make beauty products available for on-demand delivery—something that is becoming more common across the industry. Earlier this month, Sephora partnered with Uber Eats to make its stores available on the platform.
Here’s what else is going on in retail this week:
In earnings: Weeks after other major retailers reported their quarterly earnings, Costco is on deck to report its latest results on Thursday. The membership store just reported its August sales numbers, which showed an 8.7% increase from the year before. This tracks with the 8% sales increase it saw in the previous quarter.
In conferences: GROW, a platform for direct-to-consumer retail brands, technology providers, and investors, is hosting a two-day conference in New York this week for the industry to learn and network. Topics on the agenda include personalization, profitability and supply chains, as well as a heavy focus on artificial intelligence. Speakers include executives from Steve Madden, Dr. Squatch, and Branch Furniture.
In webinars: PYMNTS is hosting a webinar Monday at 1pm looking at changes in the credit industry. According to the event description, “consumers are divided into two camps: planners who map every purchase for rewards or liquidity, and impulse spenders who swipe reactively.” The event is aimed at helping retailers understand how processors and issuers are developing new products aimed at each camp.
