Nordstrom’s treading on The RealReal’s hem with its latest initiative: “See You Tomorrow,” a secondhand designer apparel shop opening today at Nordstrom’s NYC flagship and online.

How it works: Nordstrom will source items from Adidas, Off-White, Burberry, and more from its returned and damaged goods inventory.

  • Customers can also consign pre-owned merchandise—but instead of cash, they’ll get Nordstrom gift cards in return. (Loyalty!)
  • “See You Tomorrow” is scheduled for a six-month run.

What’s old is new again...again. U.S. department stores see the growing resale market as their path to relevancy. Last year, J.C. Penney and Macy’s partnered with thredUP to sell used clothing within select stores. Neiman Marcus also bought a stake in the resale site Fashionphile in 2019.

But Nordstrom’s even more bullish on outfit repeating. “See You Tomorrow” is Nordstrom’s third used goods project. It also hosts drop boxes for Rent the Runway returns at 29 stores and is selling used RTR items at some Nordstrom Rack stores for a limited time.
