Happy fall. Since we gave you a heads-up last week that it was National Cheeseburger Day, we thought it would be particularly fitting to mention that Friday is National Coffee Day. Just remember to think of us when you grab your freebie.

Here’s what else is going on this week in the retail universe.

In events: eBay Open, the company’s annual seller summit that brings together eBay’s leaders, entrepreneurs, and merchants for four days of presentations and networking, starts Tuesday. It’s also an opportunity for the company to showcase its latest offerings and products, including its recently released generative AI tool.

  • The virtual and in-person summit will include events in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.
  • Dozens of sellers and eBay execs will speak, including CMO Adrian Fung, VP and US General Manager Adam Ireland, Senior Manager of Product Management Amit Rawat, and Home Interior Category Lead Chelsea Walsh.

In documentaries: On Tuesday, Amazon Prime Video is releasing the Victoria’s Secret World Tour. The documentary reenvisions the fashion brand’s runway show, which was axed in 2019 over long-standing concerns about diversity and sexism, as well as declining ratings.

  • Victoria’s Secret has been revamping its image since at least 2021.
  • But the documentary is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Victoria’s Secret’s relationship with Amazon. The two announced a collaboration in June, when the Everything Store started carrying the fashion brand’s apparel and lingerie. It’s Victoria’s Secret’s first retail partnership in North America.

In voting: The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee is expected to debate legislation this week that would allow legal marijuana sellers to use major financial and banking institutions.

  • The bipartisan bill, called the Safe Banking Act, is expected to pass in the Senate after the committee hearing.

Lack of access to large banks has been a major obstacle for cannabis businesses, which have had to rely on smaller banks and credit unions for financing.
