2023 was a big year for retail executive turnover, and the final month of the year didn’t disappoint, as retailers like Levi’s, Claire’s, and Ulta all announced major C-suite moves to close out the year.
- Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh announced he’s stepping down from his role, passing it over to president Michelle Gass, effective January 29. Gass, former CEO of Kohl’s, was originally tapped to succeed Bergh in November 2022.
- Claire’s named Parade president Chris Cramer, whose career also includes 20 years at Bath & Body Works, as its new CFO and COO.
- Ulta’s CFO Scott Setterson said he’ll retire on April 1 after nearly 20 years with the retailer, set to be replaced by SVP of finance Paula Oyibo.
- Revolution Beauty added Erin Cast as its new president of North America, while CFO Elizabeth Lake left her role, replaced by former Boohoo Group CFO Neil Catto.
- Save A Lot tapped interim CEO Fred Boehler to be its permanent chief executive, after former CEO Leon Bergmann exited in October 2023.
- Grocer Ahold Delhaize added Alex Holt as its chief sustainability officer beginning in June. Holt currently holds the same role at Australian retailer Woolworths Group.
- Peloton CMO Leslie Berland stepped down from her role to become CMO at Verizon after just joining Peloton in January. The company named Lauren Weinberg, SVP and chief marketing and revenue officer at financial tech company Intuit, to take over the chief marketer spot.
- Chewy brought on David Reeder, former CFO of semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries, as its new CFO.
- Grocery Outlet CFO Charles Bracher will depart the discount grocer on March 1 after over a decade with the company.
Lux life: Chinese luxury firm Lanvin Group’s chairman and CEO Joann Cheng is leaving her role, succeeded by Eric Chan, a senior exec at a subsidiary of Lanvin’s parent company Fosun Group. Meanwhile, luxury fashion brand Chloé CEO Riccardo Bellini exited the company, with Laurent Malecaze, current CEO of menswear brand Dunhill, owned by Chloé’s parent Richemont, taking over the role.
