Ewelina Aiossa is founder and general manager of skin care brand Topical Skin.

How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t work in retail? Supporting skin health and skin rejuvenation through a cosmeceutical skin care line, Topical Skin. Making innovation and novel technologies accessible to the masses.

One thing we can’t guess about your job from your LinkedIn profile? I am a science and ingredient geek at heart who spends hours on PubMed and employs a pharmaceutical-like approach to skin care formulations. I am a big proponent of nutraceuticals and the supplement industry. I also have a broad experience launching award-winning beauty products, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine and nature.

What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on? Past favorite projects include incubating beauty brands for retailers—spearheading the SkinCeuticals flagship retail program, conducting clinical studies on topical formulations, and launching medical devices into the physician-dispensed channel. My current favorite project is building and scaling the Topical Skin brand.

Which emerging retail trend are you most excited about right now, and why? Social commerce and its almost unlimited potential. Between a variety of social media platforms at brands’ disposal, to their ever-expanding features and capabilities, the rise of influencers and importance of community building and social proof—the list goes on and on. And most importantly, having 24/7 access to digital retail therapy.

What’s your go-to coffee order? Cappuccino and affogato in the summertime.

Worst piece of advice you’ve received? In the early days of my corporate career as an in-house marketing executive, I was told to be meek, quiet, and keep opinions to myself unless discussed ahead of meetings and aligned with N+1’s modus operandi.

What was your favorite retail product when you were 15, and what’s your favorite retail product now? When I was 15, I was into makeup, especially eyeliner and mascara. Nowadays, I enjoy quality skin care with preventive and corrective benefits, such as Topical Skin Rejuvenating Moisturizer and Topical Skin Age-Defying Peptide Serum. And I cannot forget the first step in my daily skin care regimen: the Topical Skin Hydrating Facial Cleanser with oleosomes.
