Lots of retail executives used July as a time to say goodbye to their current roles—chiefs at Burberry, Tom Ford, Joann, and Saks stepped away. Here are the most notable moves to know about:
- Burberry CEO Jonathan Akeroyd exited his role, and Joshua Schulman, former CEO of Michael Kors, Coach, and Jimmy Choo, assumed the chief executive spot by.
- After stepping down as CEO of Five Below after about 10 years at the retailer, Joel Anderson was named chief executive at Petco, following the departure of Ron Coughlin four months ago.
- Tom Ford creative director Peter Hawkings, the successor of designer Tom Ford, abruptly stepped away after taking on the role just last year.
- Shiseido chairman and CEO Masahiko Uotani will retire at the end of the year, the company announced; president and COO Kentaro Fujiwara will replace him on January 1.
- Selfridges CEO Andrew Keith moved on from his role, which he assumed in June 2023, to “pursue new ventures.”
- Joann CFO Scott Sekella departed the craft retailer, replaced by Alvarez & Marsal managing director Jeff Dwyer in the interim. The company also promoted a number of executives, including John Stalcup to EVP and chief digital officer.
- Saks COO RJ Cilley exited the company to become CEO of HVAC company Voomi Supply.
- Saks Off 5th chief merchandising officer Mara Sirhal left her role to fill the same one at QVC US; two merchandising execs, Allison Ross and Melissa Garrick, will replace her.
- Savage X Fenty added former Nike exec Vanessa Wallace as its new CMO.
- Richemont named two watch brand leaders as CEOs of its jewelry makers: Louis Ferla, head of watch label Vacheron Constantin, was tapped as Cartier CEO, while Jaeger-LeCoultre head Catherine Renier will lead Van Cleef & Arpels.
- General Mills tapped former Best Buy exec Asheesh Sakena as its chief strategy and growth officer.
- Kraft Heinz brought on PepsiCo vet Todd Kaplan as its CMO for North America. Kaplan was previously CMO of Pepsi, and announced his departure in June after 17 years with the CPG giant.
