From CEOs to CMOs to CFOs to COOs, to roles that, well, aren’t so easily abbreviated, retail executives were shuffling around in February. Here are the top moves to know:

  • In a surprise move, Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher exited the CPG giant less than two years after assuming the role. Schumacher had been in the midst of executing a turnaround plan for Unilever, but was ousted to speed up the efforts. CFO Fernando Fernandez will now take the helm.
  • The Michaels Companies tapped David Boone, former CEO of Staples Canada, as its new CEO. He takes over the spot left vacant by Ashley Buchanan, who departed last month to lead Kohl’s.
  • Ulta Beauty promoted Kelly Mahoney, its SVP of customer and growth marketing, to fill the CMO role Michelle Crossan-Matos vacated last month.
  • Bonobos and Express owner Phoenix named Greg Scott as its next chief exec. Scott’s retail résumé includes roles as CEO of New York & Company and chief merchandising officer at Fashion Nova.
  • HanesBrands CEO Steve Bratspies will be stepping down when a successor is named or by year’s end, the company said, and plans to remain with the company afterward in an advisory role.
  • Miu Miu announced Silvia Onofri as its next CEO, succeeding Benedetta Petruzzo, who departed the role to become Christian Dior’s managing director.
  • Dollar General named Steve Deckard, previously its EVP of store operations and development, as its EVP of strategy and development, and promoted its SVP of store operations Tracey Herrmann to EVP of store operations.
  • Michael Kors promoted chief product officer Philippa Newman, a 16-year company vet, to chief brand and product officer.
  • Gucci’s creative director Sabato de Sarno departed the luxury company after joining in 2023.
  • Direct-to-consumer rug company Ruggable tapped Nike and The North Face vet Nicole Otto as its new CEO.
  • Kroger brought on David Kennerley as its new CFO, filling a role left open by Gary Millerchip, who exited to serve as CFO of Costco.

Jean pool: A year into her role as president and CEO at Levi Strauss & Co., Michelle Gass has shifted the responsibilities for many of its C-suite members, including its chief product officer and chief commercial officer. Its COO, Liz O’Neill, will also retire after 12 years with the company, with the role set to be replaced with a new chief supply chain officer.
