While Amazon CEO Andy Jassy this month warned that generative AI will eventually reduce corporate jobs at the e-commerce giant, real humans are still, as of now, being hired for the top retail jobs. Here are the major retail executive comings and goings to know in June:

  • Glossier CEO Kyle Leahy is exiting her role at the end of the year after three years at the beauty brand, writing in a company-wide note that the next CEO will “lead this new phase of growth.” A successor has not been named, but founder Emily Weiss will not be filling the role.
  • Gucci parent Kering named Renault CEO Luca de Meo as its next CEO, effective in mid-September, while current CEO François-Henri Pinault will remain chair.
  • Prada CEO Gianfranco D’Attis will leave his role “by mutual agreement,” the company said, succeeded by Prada Group CEO Andrea Guerra in the interim.
  • Amid declining sales, Vera Bradley’s CEO Jacqueline Ardrey and CFO Michael Schwindle are departing the handbag maker. A successor for Ardrey hasn’t been appointed, but Martin Layding, former divisional CFO of Coach, will take over for Schwindle.
  • Men’s Warehouse owner Tailored Brands promoted president John Tighe to CEO, replacing Peter Sachse, who will shift to executive chair.
  • P&G’s Special Beauty Division CEO Colin Walsh is leaving his position on August 1. P&G’s SVP of North America Hair Care John Brownlee will take over while continuing to hold his current role.
  • Fabletics tapped Carly Gomez, its SVP of brand marketing, as its new CMO, filling a role left open since December 2023 when its former CMO Ilona Aman exited for Athleta.
  • Peloton brought on its fourth CMO since 2020, naming Apple and Amazon vet Megan Imbres as its next chief marketer after the exit of Lauren Weinberg in April.
  • Former Hormel Foods president and CEO and current board member Jeffrey Ettinger is returning to the Spam maker for 15 months, beginning July 14, after the retirement of James Snee.
  • Nike promoted its VP for running footwear Tony Bignell to chief innovation officer, following the May announcement that John Hoke, who first joined Nike in 1992, is retiring.
  • J. Jill added Courtney O’Connor as its new SVP and chief merchandising officer following the departure of Shelley Liebsch. O’Connor was formerly merchandising chief at Club Monaco.

En memoriam: Estée Lauder chairman emeritus Leonard Lauder, known for coining “the lipstick index” as an economic indicator, died at age 92.
